Due to the rocky landscape and the access to the Schiltach River, the town of Schramberg was a sought-after location for castles at that time, through which the knights and nobles secured their dominions on the eastern edge of the Black Forest. It is therefore not surprising that there were no less than five castles in Schramberg .
